Capture Video continued...

  • Choose 'Other settings:'
  • In the drop down menu choose 'Video for broadband (150 Kbps)'
  • Choose Next

Capture Video Settings

  • Make sure your video is rewound a few seconds. (With the VCR you want to avoid having the 'PLAY' display on the top of the screen.)
  • Hit play on the VCR or other device.
  • When you are at the point you want to capture, select the 'Start Capture' button in the Capture Video window.
  • You will know it is capturing your movie if you see the 'Video captured' clock running and the movie playing in the monitor window.
    • If you do not see both of these you should restart the capture process.
  • Select 'Stop Capture' when you are finished recording and the monitor goes to black
  • Or, when the time code reaches the end of your desired clip plus 5 seconds.  (This will take about the same amount of time as the length of the movie or movie clip.)
  • Select Finish
  • Your movie, at 150k speed, is now saved to the Desktop.

Next, capture the movie in the second speed, (340k).

  • Now select your movie clip and drag and drop it onto the VIDEO track of the storyboard/timeline. (Not the audio track).

  • Next go to 'Finish Movie' in the left display window
  • Choose 'Save to my computer'

  • A 'Saved Movie File' window will pop up next
  • Type in the title of your movie with the speed (ex. My_Movie_340K,
    Underscores, NO SPACES.)
  • Select Browse and choose 'Desktop', (if not already selected).
  • Select Next

  • Next you will see a Movie Settings window
  • Select 'Other settings' and choose 'Video for broadband (340 kbps)' in the drop down menu
  • Choose Next and Finish

Both of your movies will be on the desktop.

  • Minimize the Movie Maker window and open your file to make sure it plays correctly.

Desktop

  • Now you can either make a CD/DV copy for yourself and move your encoded videos to the VO Server (shown above in the white area, make a folder for yourself).
  • OR, you can edit your movie first, then make your CD/DV copy and move your encoded videos to the VO Server, (shown above in the white area, make a folder for yourself).
    • REMEMBER - the videos on the desktop will be deleted each night!
    • The videos will be deleted from the VO server as they are uploaded to Video Online.
  • To make your CD/DV go to the NERO CD BURN icon on the desktop.
