  Biography:

I have been teaching mathematics at St. Petersburg College since 1983. I am originally from Illinois and received my BS and MA degrees in Mathematics from Eastern Illinois University. After moving to Florida, I completed my Ph.D. from the University of South Florida in Mathematics Education with an emphasis in Instructional Technology. As you might imagine, I combine technology (graphic calculators, computers, internet) with almost all of my classes. I have taught all levels of mathematics from college preparatory to Calculus and Elementary Statistics. However, I am especially interested in teaching statistics, and I think all students can find an application for statistics in their personal lives due to the unique nature of statistics. In all of my statistics classes, both on-campus and online, I emphasize "hands-on" learning through the use of ActivStats (an interactive learning environment for statistics) and project-based learning through the use of DataDesk (a statistics analysis program).
