  Biography:

I was raised in Daytona Beach and was graduated from Mainland High.I then attended Mercer University and received the A.B. degree.Following a brief hiatus as a folk musician, I attended Vanderbilt University where I completed my M.Div. and D.Min. degrees. After being ordained in the Christian Church(Disciples of Christ)I was in parish ministry with some experience in campus ministry. In 1992, I began my present employment with Lifepath Hospice as a chaplain and eventually as the Director of Spiritual Care.I have served on the faculty of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care and the National Hospice Organization.I have been an instructor with SPC since 1998. I am married to Lisa Stone Spiegel, who is a hospice nurse. Outside the classroom, my interests are travel, reading, salt water fishing, acoustic guitar, and Rock 'N Roll. I try to be accessible to my students as needed. Please do not hesitate to email me or call me at home if I can be of help in your educational endeavor!
