  Biography:

Education:  BS in Speech Pathologoy/Audiology;  MA in Deaf Education/Audiology 

Credentials: Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf-CSC;  ASHA-CCC-Aud;  CIT;  ASLTA;  CAED

Ms. Elser joined the SPC faculty in 1994 after having taught at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. and at USF, Tampa.  She has been awarded for her contributions to the Deaf Community and to the professional organizations in which she has served.  She established a Deaf Service Center for a five county area; and was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the Florida Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf for developing the State level Quality Assurance Assessment; and for serving as the state's first QA Chair.

She developed the Sign language Interpretaton Program at SPC and has taught courses and supervised instruction of American Sign Language and Interpreter Training.  The Program has received national recognition.

Her philosophy of education is to create a challenging learning environment ;  to develop activities that encourage success;  to promote respect for individual diversity; and to enjoy learning.

 "Everyone has dreams and learning is a process of fulfilling those aspirations.  Knowledge then becomes the foundation for future success."   A student can succeed in my class if he/she is willing to prepare, to participate with a positive attitude;  to apply what he/she learns;  and to demonstrate motivation to do his/her best.
