  Biography:

Cory Hall has been teaching humanities and music at St. Petersburg College since 1999. Courses taught include Western Humanities I and II, East-West Synthesis, Introduction to Music, as well as private and class piano. He currently teaches exclusively humanities courses at SPC. He also currently teaches private piano at Eckerd College and serves as organist at Anona United Methodist Church, in Largo.

Hall earned the Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) and Master of Music (M.M.) from the University of Kansas, M.M. in Piano from the Eastman School of Music, and Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Piano from California State University, Sacramento. In addition to being trained as a concert pianist, Dr. Hall has a strong interest in history and the humanities, especially the history of art, music, and architecture. He has also completed additional graduate courses in World Religions and is especially knowledgable in this area.

In 2008, Dr. Hall launched his website, "BachScholar.com," a resource for teachers, students, and scholars who seek answers to the elusive problem of tempo in Bach's music. He also began posting videos on YouTube in September 2008 (playing on his Steinway in his living room), and his channel under "BachScholar" has since become one of the most prolific and popular of all classical music channels on YouTube. He is planning to record the complete works of Scott Joplin on CD in the near future.
