SSI in ANGEL Help Files
The Student Survey of Instruction (SSI) has recently been redeveloped to seamlessly integrate into SPC instructor's ANGEL courses. The survey is now delivered as an ANGEL survey which contains a Flash movie that records the student's responses and communicates with the survey database.
The biggest advantage of the new format is that once it is added to an ANGEL course, it does not need to be added or changed again. Even when the course is copied from session to session, the SSI ANGEL survey is carried over and functions for the new course. Find out how to add the SSI to your ANGEL course.

If the student informs you that the locked content is not open, one main reason for this is the instructor placed a different password on the SSI from the locked content. If this occurs, follow the steps below to open the content for the student:

Known Issues
- Internet Explorer users with Flash version 7 or earlier will be prompted to install Flash version 9 - http://www.adobe.com.
- Internet Explorer users may be prompted that the page is not secure and asked whether or not to install a certificate. See Troubleshooting #2.
- Firefox browser users may just see the SSI Flash movie background but no images or text appear. See Troubleshooting #3.

#1 - No SSI Quiz Appears
If the SSI simply does not appear, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take:
#2 - The SSI loads but is blank
This issue is only known to happen in the Firefox browser when the user has an older version of Flash
Unlike Internet Explorer, which prompts the user to download the latest version of Flash, Firefox does not. The user will need to install Flash version 9 in their browser and then revisit the ANGEL survey page.
#3 - The SSI loads but the loading bar never hits 100% and it doesn't advance
Occurs when no response is received from the ColdFusion server or when the end user's Flash Player cannot contact the ColdFusion server. The user will need to install Flash version 9 in their browser and then revisit the ANGEL survey page. If the issue is not resolved after installing the latest Player and reloading the page call the Helpdesk and notify them of the error. The Helpdesk will contact the appropriate WITS department members.
#4 - Error Message: #0203-1019 The survey you requested is unavailable due to a lack of information...
This error message appears if the HTML code that places the Flash movie in the ANGEL survey is incorrect. A course editor will need to edit the Section Header of the ANGEL survey and verify that the following three ANGEL tokens are corrently entered as attributes in the <param> and <embed> tags: $COURSE_ID$, $USER_NAME$, $USER_ID$
The HTML <param name="movie"> tag should be as follows:
The HTML <embed> tag should be as follows:
In this scenario, the easiest solution may be for the instructor to remove the SSI and re-add it to the course.
