Learning Management System Evaluation Committee (LMSEC)

The purpose of this site is communicate with the college the strategic planning process for evaluating various Learning Management Systems. SPC's eLearning initiative is starting its fifth year. Our distance learning program has grown and matured over the last five years. Because of this growth our current learning management system, WebCT 3.8, may not be able to handle the growth expected in the future. Consequently, this is a good time for the college to evaluate other Learning Management System's that will be able to scale to our needs as numbers grow. Responsibilities of Committee Members:

• To assess and evaluate learning management systems and to recommend to the administration a single LMS.
• To identify the software, hardware, and human resources necessary and the required budget to provide those resources to effectively and efficiently support SPC teaching and learning through the recommended LMS.

Recommendation Process:

• The LMSEC will develop a rubric scoring system based on four major categories, architecture, faculty/student input, feature set, and total cost of ownership
• The committee members will evaluate each LMS based on the scoring rubric
• The recommendation will go to the Technology Oversite Group (TOG) for final approval
