What is St. Petersburg Online Communicator (SPOC)?

St. Petersburg Online Communicator (SPOC) was developed by St. Petersburg College's Web & Instructional Technology department as a suite of tools designed for synchronous and asynchronous communications in online classes. SPOC users simply need a high speed internet connection with a Flash enabled web browser to allow real-time collaborative learning from anywhere.

This site was created by William Haun in 2006 for the SPC Web & Instructional Technology Services Department. St. Petersburg College developed this software application supported by congressionally authorized funding through Funds for the Improvement of Post Secondary Education (FIPSE). This grant, called Project Eagle II, began August 1, 2003 and ends July 31, 2007 and has an award of $4,470,750. The goal is to extend learning to everywhere, all-the-time through an online environment.
